catherine wheel stitch

29 Oct

i saw this scarf over at moonstitches blog quite a while ago, and it is strikingly gorgeous! of course, she’s a wizard with colours, but the stitch itself is also to my liking. since i haven’t bothered to get the japanese book with the pattern, i was very happy today when i came across mikeyssmail’s tutorial on the stitch on youtube! The tutorial is in 5 parts, begin with this one, then number two, then three, four, five and six. (oh, there’s even a seven) there’s also a written pattern for it found here. i’ve learned the stitch, now i just have to finish a  project or two before i start something using it.

(pardon the poor picture quality, my camara doesn’t want to work with me anymore, so this is my macbook cam helping out!)

if anyone else catches the catherine wheel stitch bug, drop me a comment, i’d like to see! 🙂
